Crystal Solitaire is typically played on a wooden board with pegs or marbles, we absolutely adore this Crystal Solitaire from Madagascar. Our Crystal Solitaires are handmade. The bases are wooden boards and the playing pieces are a lovely mix of crystal marbles. The origins of this fascinating game are unclear but the earliest know reference to it was towards the end of the 17th century. Solitaire is a single player game that is actually better described as a puzzle as it involves much contemplation and can be somewhat baffling! A fantastic way to keep chatty friends occupied when necessary!
Preparation and Objective: Set up so that pieces fill every hole except the middle hole. Remove every piece except one, with the final piece ending up in the centre hole.
Basic Play: Makes successive capturing moves, removing a single piece each turn until it’s impossible to make any more capturing moves. Capture a piece by jumping over that piece orthogonally (not diagonally) from one adjacent point to the vacant adjacent point on the other side. The first turn can be made only by jumping a piece into the middle hole from one of 4 possible points.
Available in Large with 37 crystal marbles. No two are the same so the one pictured may not be the one you receive.
