Born in Barcelona, raised in Ibiza
Hjordis was born in Barcelona but Ibiza has always been home. She has spent time in the UK, but if she couldn’t live in Ibiza, there’s really only one alternative — the paradise island of Formentera.
Passion is what drives most creative minds, and it’s no different for Hjordis. She has always been an artist. Drawing is her favourite form of meditation and, alongside the poetic words of Jim Morrison, it has helped her navigate life’s more confusing and difficult moments. Hjordis is a self-confessed nighttime nutter and daytime dreamer — frequently waking up surrounded by post-its, determined not to lose a single middle-of-the-night brainwave.
From sketchbooks to best-selling Ibiza guide
After spending most of her childhood filling up sketchbooks, Hjordis studied Graphic Design to take her creativity in a more commercial direction. But she has since come full circle. When it came to creating the visuals for her guide, she quickly realised that her beautiful watercolour sketches — the same style she’d been practising her whole life — suited the spirit of the book far better than photographs ever could. The result is a guide that feels as warm and personal as Ibiza itself.
Love Ibiza Now — protecting the islands
It’s clear from Hjordis’s work that her love for Ibiza and Formentera runs deep, so it came as no surprise to hear about her involvement in Love Ibiza Now — a collaboration with her friend Ana Lui, dedicated to promoting awareness and working together to maintain the beauty of the islands. The fresh Ibiza air is one of the things Hjordis misses most when she’s away, and that feeling of protectiveness over this special place shines through everything she does.
